When you started doing part or all of your business online did you think it meant you could stay in your home office and not have to deal with people?
It isn’t exactly turning out that way, is it?
The reality is the more successful you become, the more time you spend having conversations with clients, potential joint venture partners, and if you’re an information marketer; doing teleseminars, being interviewed and speaking at seminars.
Now, how far up the ladder you go depends on what you want your business to look like and also how much money you want to make. And increasing your sales and communication skills is the way you get there.
I’m going to share with you one quick and easy tip you can implement that could have you creating clients for life.
If you’re like me and you thought doing business on the Internet meant you never had to get dressed again, this can be something of a shock. But nobody ever told me where the chain of events would take me as a successful information marketer.
The funny thing is that I spent my entire adult life in sales, talking to strangers every day. I gave presentations, asked people I had just met for large sums of money, trained other salespeople and ran sales rooms.
Here’s the funny part, or the tragic part, depending on your perspective. I was painfully shy. I even hated going to parties where the only people there were people who worked for me.
So when I became an information marketer I thought I would never have to talk to strangers again. Wrong!
My sales background came in very handy as I quickly realized if I wanted to get my products out there and make a lot of money, I had to do more than just stick them on a website and wait. I’m sure you’ve come to that realization too, haven’t you?
One of the first things I realized is that personally contacting people by email, not just the thank you for your order auto responder, made people very happy and reduced cancellations. That got me thinking, “If people are surprised to get a personal email, what would happen if I called them?”
You’ll be shocked to see how much loyalty you create in response to your personal emails. You can double, triple or quadruple that when you call your new clients.
Now I understand that if you have hundreds of people purchase at the same time, you can’t call them all. But it’s a good idea for people who purchase your high end programs. And wouldn’t it be a thrill for some of your clients who purchase smaller products to get a surprise call.
It may just have them talking about it to everyone, and possibly for years, like I am about the call I got.
For example, 8 years ago when I purchased Alex Mandossian’s Traffic Conversion Course, I was on the receiving end of one of those calls. It was so unexpected. I had only met Alex briefly at the event where I purchased his program.
Back then he called his new clients personally even when he’d already met them at an event! That raised the bar on the level of service I wanted to deliver to my clients.
Having a respected guru in your industry pick up the phone and call to welcome you to the new program you’re going to be participating in is a great idea. At that moment, the student/customer/client becomes a fan. That creates loyalty, which translates into lots of referrals and repeat business.
One small act of showing someone you value the fact they chose to do business with you can create a client for life.
How much is that worth to your business?
Is it worth spending a little time learning a powerful sales and communication system that will allow you to become a hero to your clients?
The strategies and principles of the YES System could revolutionize your business. As a professional service provider, coach/consultant, Realtor/insurance agent, speaker/author or information marketer, taking just this one little part of your customer service functions offline, will set you apart from the majority of people in your area of expertise.
You’ll learn how to communicate with people in a way that will cut down on product returns because they feel like you really understand them and want to help.
Wouldn’t it be great if your clients always understood what you were trying to say? What would it be like if you could get things accomplished in a way that seemed effortless?
