Your life is all about you, nobody else. Don’t forget this…and no it’s not selfish.
Do you find yourself frequently putting yourself in another person’s shoes at your own expense? Women are actually taught that’s a good thing to do. As a woman in her 50’s I was raised in an age where we were told the husband and children come first. And then with women’s lib is the 70’s we were supposed to forget all that and just take care of ourselves.
Does it have to be either or? And if you always put others first, who’s looking out for your needs and fulfilling your desires?
Many people I talk to in strategy sessions are permanently stuck in someone else’s shoes and never wear their own. At this point they really don’t even know where to begin to shift that experience. They don’t have any idea what they really would want for themselves if they ever felt like they had a right to consider it.
In that case what you create in your life is what someone else thinks would be best for you.
Another trap you can frequently fall into is looking at what someone else has done, what they have or who they appear to be and comparing yourself to them. It takes a conscious commitment to stop this distractive habit and to allow yourself to follow your own path on your own time table.
As you create your own life blueprint, and open a space for direct communication with/from your higher self, this habit of comparing falls away to a great extent on it’s own.
Do you wonder what is “right”?
It really can be very difficult to not ask that question. Again, we’re trained to do the right thing, so there must be a ‘right’, right? You can re-train yourself to answer your own question by remembering the only thing that matters is if it’s right for you.
I had brought a vase full of beautiful roses to an event so we could have flowers with us in the room and on the second day as I looked at the roses I noticed some had already bloomed fully. Some were still tightly closed and some were in various stages of unfolding. So, “Which one is right?”
In the terms we normally use to judge situations or accomplishments, there would be a pre-concieved notion of what of a rose would be the expected look like on day 2. And yet they were all beautiful and following their own path, their own time table for unfolding and exposing their beauty.
After accepting none of them were wrong, someone said, “It’s also possible that some of those who aren’t opening yet could die without ever
opening.” Which is also true, as it is for many people who never discover or fulfill their passion.
When you change your thoughts, what you see changes and that in turn instills new beliefs that continue to change your thoughts…and so on and
so on.
Here are two quick steps you can take right now if you don’t like the results you’re currently getting from your thinking.
#1 Have an awareness of what you spend your day thinking about
#2 Create an awareness of the physical manifestation your thoughts lead to
This is a simple way for you to shift what you think about and what you get.
Until next week, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Just comment on this post on my blog.
