Question: I’m working as fast as I can on my own business but I just can’t seem to gain any ground. It always feels like there’s 20 thing more that I need to do and even more that I still need to learn. I’m feeling overwhelmed. Any quick fixes?

Answer: Time management is an issue for everybody. It doesn’t end once your business is in flow. If anything, success just ramps up the speed of the treadmill (to use the analogy from yesterday’s SBR show).
So my suggestion is to get a handle on this now while things are still small and relatively manageable.
#1: You need regular hours that you spend on your business and those are firm, no negotiation. That’s when your business is open.
#2: You need to calendar everything for at least 2 weeks, preferably a month, so you can get a clear idea of what you do and how long it takes you. It only takes 2 seconds to put it on your calendar. Calendar everything! The closer you measure the easier it is to analyze.
#3: Take on 1 thing at a time and work on it to completion. You get a sense of accomplishment, you don’t have 20 partial completed to-do items floating around in your head, and you’re much more productive when you focus on 1 thing.
When you’ve mastered those 3 steps, let’s talk about what’s next for you.
