Client Q & A

Question: I’m going through a career transition and taking what was a hobby, I guess a part time business and making it my real business, but I’m not sure if I should get a job to tide me over or if it would be too much of a distraction and slow me down in getting my business up and running. Is there an entrepreneur’s rule for this or not?

Thanks,
Julie

Answer: Great questions Julie! Lots of successful entrepreneurs start their businesses the same way you are. They have a job, have a hobby and the next thing they know their hobby is looking a lot like a business.

Now in your case, it looks like something is happening with your job where it’s opting out of the picture. Most of the time that’s a good sign to take a look and see if you now have an opening to make your hobby a full time business.

Only you can make that decision. Take a serious look at your finances and that will be your first indicator. Do you have the money to get you through the months you think it will take to replace the income you need to support your life?moneybriefcase

If not, are there things you’re willing to let go or downsize in the short term to not have to get a job?

If you need a job, can you get by with a part time job?

Do you have a stream of residual income that gives you passive income every month?

Residual income comes in handy in so many situations that it really has become a necessity for the majority of people and a stress reliever for everyone. If you aren’t currently investing as little as 5 hours a week creating passive income, connect with me and I can show you how easy it is to build a substantial stream quickly.

If you’ve got the money covered, then it looks like you’re ready to go full steam ahead with creating your new passion-filled business, doing what you love. Congratulation!

Make sure you create a blueprint for what you want your life to look like now that you’re making this transition and how your new business will facilitate it. Then just follow the plan you’ve created.

    Lynn:

I am so sorry to hear about Sam. She brought you so much joy, that I can understand your shock and sadness at her loss. Taking it all in and coming to terms with the loss will take time. Please know that I will pray for your peace.

    Sincerely,
