Are the Kids on American Idol Bolder in Business than You?

I have never missed an episode of American Idol. I admit it, I love it. I love the competition and I love to see these kids going for their dreams. As the weeks progress you get to watch the psychology unfold. Do they believe in themselves? Do they think they are as talented as the other contestants? Do they think they can sing a song better than the artist who recorded it?

And when the doubt starts to creep in, they are done. The audience can tell right away, without a degree in psychology. It something you can sense intuitively when someone doesn’t believe in themselves.

Isn’t it the same with all of us who are business owners?

We should be watching those kids in amazement at the bravery they show and how they put themselves out there in such a big way. Are you brave enough to do that in your business? What would the rewards be if you did?

So ask yourself these 4 questions:
1. Do you believe that you have something unique of high value to offer?
2. Do you think you’re just as talented as your so called competition?
3. Do you believe that you can do it better than the people who are out there as the top dogs?
4. Are you brave enough to put yourself out there and go for your dream?

The great news is that you don’t have to do on TV in front of millions every week, unless you’re planning on taking over for Oprah. So what is holding you back from taking a chance and giving it a run?

And even better, you can try out your idea and do it where very few people will know whether it isn’t a big hit right out of the shoot. There won’t be 60 million people voting on whether you chose the right song or whether you sang better than the next guy.

If those kids can put themselves out there in front of the whole world and get voted off in public and hold their head up high, what’s your excuse?

Until next week, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Just comment here.
