Client Q & A

Question: I’m creating my product and I’m really stuck. I’m not sure if I’m giving too much away and then I won’t get any clients because they won’t need me. Or possibly if I leave too much out, they won’t like my product. Where is the line?

Thanks,
Ann

Answer: This is such a common question because in the beginning every new information marketer has to figure out what this is for you. It’s hard for me to comment on actual content because that’s your area of expertise. I think it comes down to looking at if you will be underserving the end user by leaving it out.

It may feel like you are telling everything you would when you work with someone individually and in general terms that may be true. But when you are working with that person privately you go beyond that into specifics that only apply to them and that is what they are paying you for-the solution to their challenge.

So I wouldn’t worry about giving too much away. That has more of a tendency to backfire and have you not tell enough to be complete enough for people to take action.

You want to create with the idea that for some people this is as far as they will go with you and you don’t want to leave them hanging. And at the same time knowing this will be the opening for others to take those steps and it be a confirmation that they want to work more closely with you.

Always land on the side of sharing more rather than holding back and you’ll create great products.
