Question: The person who was going to do my editing and interior layout is not available in time to get my book out when I want it. Do you know someone who can do this for me? Please tell me more about where I can get small runs of my book done quickly. I’ve heard it can be done for as little as $3 book.

Answer: Yes, there are lots of self publishing options where you can get small runs done quickly and inexpensively.
Price per book depends on how many pages and how quickly you need it. For example, I did a book for a group I was working with and I needed it fast. I paid almost as much to expedite the whole process and I did to print the books. As an example, that book was 120 pages & cost a little over $2 each for a small run.
These 2 are the most popular and easiest to use:
http://www.createspace.com/ If you do this one, your book will only be in Amazon with their ISBN
If you use http://www.lightningsource.com/ you get your own ISBN and it can go into any outlet.
Go to http://ISBN.org to get your ISBN # & then go to http://CreateBarCodes.com to get your bar code for it. You’ll need that for the back cover design.
For editing and design, I don’t have a particular person to recommend. I have had authors get a 96-120 page book light edit, interior layout and basic cover design for around $500.
I would look on Craigslist or Elance.com. There are plenty of people who need work. Always say “it’s a simple job and won’t take long at all for an experienced person to complete.” You’ll get a lower price that way and a quicker turn around.
