3 Ways to Increase Your Results With Less Effort

There’s too much talk of people hunkering down. Too much focus on doing more. Too much effort being expended ‘working harder’.

Just stop!

Take a breath and relax. And spend 2 minutes reading.

Do you know why you’re hunkering down? That’s really a weird saying, don’t you think? What do you really mean when you say that? What are you  feeling? What is the purpose? What results are you expecting?

Just pulling the next home study course off your shelf that’s still shrink wrapped and thinking that the answer must be in there isn’t a plan, is it? I hope that’s not your plan.

Are you doing more stuff to see if any of it works? Possibly going back to networking groups or other tactics that may have worked in the past? Come to think of it, if they had really worked that well, you probably wouldn’t have stopped doing them.

Are you working harder, doing things you don’t like to do, things you aren’t really good at, because you want to make sure you’re giving your business every effort? Getting up earlier, going to bed later, eating at your computer if you eat at all?

Am I describing you in any of those statements or someone you care about?

Does any of this sound like fun?

Before you start screaming or throwing things at me, for mentioning fun when you’re struggling, ask yourself, why shouldn’t your work be fun?

Now that we know what isn’t fun and what takes a whole lot of effort, and most likely provides little in the way of results, what is the alternative?

Before we go there…

Take another deep breath, (seriously, do it) and really feel this one. Feel the air coming in and filling your lungs and then moving down and filling your abdomen. I won’t even ask when the last time you took a deep breath like this was. Now let it out slowly through your mouth as you make an ahh sound, all the way out, every tiny last bit.

If you do this 3 times you will feel energized and oxygenated and I wouldn’t be surprised if you even feel a little tingly. But most importantly, you released your stressful thoughts for a minute, you let your mind go. You were concentrating on your breath. It’s like pushing the restart on your computer and now you can change your thought to something more positive, uplifting and growth oriented.

Here’s 3 rules for increasing your results with less effort:

#1 Getting clear and focused on exactly what the specific result is you’re going toward allows you to stand in your power and attract the people and tools you need to create your result. Otherwise you’ll get some result, but it could be very far from the result you really want.

No more randomly doing whatever and hoping for a result. Decide what the result is you choose to have and then decide what is the best way for you to realize that result. Set your intention, look at what tools you  already have and start using them. The rest will show up when it’s time.

Your job is to be able to recognize that next step when it shows up and not blocking it or sabotaging yourself.

#2 Doing the right things at the right time in the right order, the right way, with the right people and for the right people, at the right price is the key to results, not just doing more stuff.

Read that again. Write them all on separate lines on a piece of paper and make it a checklist for yourself.

By the way, doing the wrong things the right way, even doing them perfectly, will get you zero results…because it’s the wrong thing! And yet many people struggle needlessly their entire career just because they miss the reality of this point.

#3 Hard work is no fun at all, otherwise we wouldn’t call it hard. The one thing I always have a conversation with my clients about is taking time for themselves. Nobody that ‘works hard’ believes that they would be more productive if they didn’t (or they wouldn’t do it).

I find it’s best to take baby steps here. Try 5 minutes to eat lunch away from your desk to start and go from there. Increase to 10 when you no longer feel guilty about 5 minutes.

If you can get someone to do some of the things you don’t like or aren’t good at for $10 an hour, do it. You’d be surprised how many amazingly talented people will work part time, very inexpensively. What they call fun and can do in minutes is what you struggle with for hours.

Even if you just free up 1-2 hours a week for $10-$20, you’d be a amazed how much lighter you’ll feel and how many ways you can find that would be a much more productive or fun way for you to spend that time.

When you feel good and are more relaxed, you are more likely to be in a place of empowerment and be able to better attract to you the results you want.

So there’s 3 ways to increase your results with less effort. They may seem too easy or too simple or unrealistic, but they work.

The more you relax and spend time in flow, even a few minutes a day, it shifts your energy. You are always more powerful when you stand in one place and focus on attracting exactly what you want.

You lose power, waste energy and increase your stress level when you are chasing after anything you can get.

Try it, you choose.
