Question: This is my first year as a network marketer. I only do it part time, but I need the income every month. My question is, I’ve heard that the holidays are really a slow time. I’m noticing a decline this month and I really can’t wait until January for it to pick up. I know you work with MLM people, do you see this happen and any suggestions?
Thanks,
Julia
Answer: I have heard this, and you’re right, many networkers just accept it as gospel. One thing I learned when working with sales organizations over the years is that they do things because that’s the way it’s always been done.
Most people accept the story they’ve been given about how long the sales cycle is in their industry or company. They also buy into when the good times and bad times are in the year. I made a lot of money by not believing any of that.
My suggestions would be to let other people believe what they will, but you are going to work this entire holiday period as if it were any other time and keep moving forward.
The holidays are a time when people may be recognizing they could use some extra cash from a part time business. They could also see that if they start now they could build a nice little nest egg for all those extra gifts they thought they were going to have to say no to buying.
With most companies you can get paid very quickly on what you produce, so this is a great time for new people to join your team.
Also look at your products to see how you can put gift baskets together that will be great gifts for friends, family or smaller packages as hostess gifts for holiday parties. Pass on that info to your team and you can create volume there. And after the gift recipients have sampled what you have, there’s a great possibility they will be open to hearing about your business or at least want to re-order product.
