Question: Right now I’m so struck by fear of my income steadily decreasing as someone in real estate, that I’m having a really hard time concentrating on finishing my info product. Any advice?
Thanks,
Kim
Answer: First Kim, I want you to know that you aren’t alone. The majority of people are feeling the pinch of the economy on their lifestyle if not a severe lack of income. One way out is to put blinders on and finish your product as quickly as possible and get it to market.
Another would be to start looking at adding an additional stream of residual income with a good network marketing company. One of the first things I noticed 10 years ago when I got into the information marketing business was that most of my mentors, gurus in the business and personal growth fields, have this as part of their income mix and so do I. Of course the success you find there is completely a result of your efforts.
So based on how urgent your need for income is and how far along your info product is, and the amount of effort you are prepared to invest, you decide which makes more sense for you to focus on first.
P.S. As a Success Blueprint Gold VIP Inner Circle member you get hands on mentoring helping you create the blueprint for your life and your business as you create the products and services you offer to the world. You also get the benefit of me attending high ticket events monthly and teaching you what I learn from people like Brian Tracy, Frank Kern, Mike Koenigs, Dan Kennedy, Bill Glazer, Brendon Burchard and James Malinchak along with my 9 years experience as an information marketer.

10 Easy Steps to Successfully Get Where You Want to Go
August 30, 2010
Sometimes it’s hard to tell when you’re sincerely blocked by a particular situation that once removed would allow you to move forward. I like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, but I’m finding that in most cases when you remove the block they still do nothing. This is very sad and at the same time, I realize that it is the major contributor to 97% of the wealth in the world being held by 3% of the people.
Why does this happen?
Let me give you 3 common explanations for lack of follow through.
Before I do, let me just say that these are excuses, not acceptable reasons and you are still responsible for each of these possible choices you make in your life.
Lack of Follow Through Reason #1
You may not have a clear perspective on where you are mentally and emotionally as far as negative belief systems you haven’t cleared or not being willing to look at your commitment level to moving forward.
Lack of Follow Through Reason #2
It could be that deep down you really don’t want to do whatever it is you’re not following through on. I’ve done this before with everything from Internet marketing programs I’ve bought and events I’ve gone to and to even high priced mentoring that I didn’t take full advantage of.
Hey, I never said I was perfect. But what I found was that I absolutely hated doing it that particular thing, so I just didn’t do it. It didn’t matter how much I paid. And yet, since it’s part of my business, someone has to do this stuff if I’m not going to do it. It just doesn’t need to be me or you!
Lack of Follow Through Reason #3
Some of this also comes from fear of thinking you are all alone and you have to do it by yourself. If you are sincerely looking you can find help for whatever is blocking you, as deep and dark as you may think it is. You aren’t the only one facing your challenge and you just need to get the proper help to release this block.
Given those situations, if you don’t get clarity in a short time, then you need to look at the solution you’ve chosen. If it doesn’t lead to the results you, just want let it go. Take it as a learning experience and move on. Not blaming someone else for your choices is the bottom line there.
I do a lot of training courses and live events. There is always something, that if it were removed, the person could attend or they could succeed. On some occasions I have removed the block once I receive the same request from several people just to see who is real and how is whining. Sadly, most will just grab another excuse when the first one is removed.
If you are sincere in your desire to move forward, you’ll not only jump on the opportunity once your particular block has been removed, you’ll follow through to the fullest extent in the course or what you learn at the event or in a mentoring program.
Many times you may have deluded yourself for so long that you actually believe you’re really ready to move forward when you aren’t.
But in the end, you are the one who must take action, not only to invest in yourself by buying a course or attending an event, but by taking the information you receive and implementing it. If you think there is something that needs to be added to the course, take responsibility for giving your feedback.
The actual percentage of people who follow through on implementing what they learn is extremely low. This is solely your responsibility and solely your reward for the results you achieve when you do.
If you truly are interested in taking responsibility for your life and creating a better life for yourself than the one you have now, there are some very simple steps you can follow.
10 Easy Steps to Successfully Get Where You Want to Go:
1. Clearly assess the reality of where you are now and why
2. Choose the correct path of action for the next logical step for you
3. Find the course or event or mentor that can help you get there
4. Be fully present and engaged during your time with your choice from step 3
5. Do all the work necessary to complete the process of step 3
6. Assess your success in how well you were able to complete step 3
7. Ask for more help if you are not clear and needing further clarification
8. Give yourself a reasonable amount of time to gauge your success with this step
9. Repeat step 2-9 until you have achieved your desired result
10. Take your life to a higher level by starting again with step 1

Will Smith Talks About Real Success Principles
August 21, 2010
I’ve watched this video a few times since it was recommended to me by a friend. It’s just too good to not pass along. I’ve always been impressed with Will Smith‘s work ethic and how he carries that attitude of study and work into his marriage as well. I’ve seen him interviewed many times over the years and it’s always been apparent that his own personal growth is a very serious pursuit for him.
If you need something to motivate you when you start your day, this is a great video to start with. Embrace the principles of success Will talks about. And if you haven’t read The Alchemist, read it!
So watch and see what you think.

Want to Quickly & Easily Structure Your Book for Success?
August 21, 2010
My latest video post over at Author Expert Media is about how to best structure your book so click on over and check it out. It’s only about 3 minutes and content rich. I took this snippet from a live Q & A session where I was answering questions from authors, speakers and information marketers. If you’re writing a book, let me know what your questions are.
Client Q & A
August 19, 2010
Question: I’m concerned that if I start writing articles or blogging on my topic before my product is ready to launch, someone could steal my information and copy me before I have everything copyrighted. How can I build a list without getting ripped off.
Joel
Answer: I’ve actually had this come up in conversation twice this week besides your question. And both times it surprised me because I haven’t heard anyone talk about being ripped off for several years.
I think the main reason most people don’t have this fear anymore is speed to market. Meaning that by the time you start putting pieces out there, you’re far enough ahead that nobody is going to get it out before you.
You have to accept the fact that at the same time you’re creating your product, there could be 12 other people who saw the same space in the market and felt they could fill it.
There is an old saying, “Money loves speed.” It’s true. The person who gets the product to market the fastest stands the best shot, but they aren’t always the winner.
Someone who isn’t you is never going to be as successful telling your story as you are. Unless you give them a long lead time.
So if you are half done with your project and you start sharing little pieces as blog posts or articles, you have little to worry about. How is someone going to steal your process or system or theories if you’re only doing a 200 word post or a 5 minute video or a 750 word article?
Fear of loss is not an abundant way of being in your business or your life. People can always try to steal your ideas, even if they are copyrighted it can be changed just enough to be legal. So don’t approach it from that space. Share openly knowing that what you have is uniquely you and you can’t be stolen or duplicated.
Other people can do products on the same topic, but they will all be different from yours. Don’t let this fear rule your business and prevent you from building a list that will build your financial future.

Share your plans, pictures, videos.
If you don’t have plans yet, let me give you ideas throughout the summer with some of my favorite spots.
The summer is winding down and what better way to close it out than a trip to the coast or a river or a lake near you? This one happens to be San Diego.
It’s been an exciting week, with http://AuthorExpertMedia.com really getting a lot of interest from well know experts and new authors alike after the huge success of the Virtual Book Tour of Kevin Hall’s book Aspire.
I realize now after talking to a few authors in process that I need to add some content that speaks to the needs of those of you who are just starting out on the path of becoming a published author. So look for that new content soon.
I’m having some Q & A video from a live event I did on book writing, publishing and the business beyond the book segmented so it can be posted on the site.
This week’s photo is with Audrey Hagen, founder of Platinum Events. My BFF Audrey is the event coordinator to the stars so if you attend the top live events you’ve seen Audrey in the back of the room running the show. She’s handled my events since she began her business.
On Success Blueprint Radio yesterday I had a conversation with Sean Stephenson, one of my favorite people I’ve met recently, about relationships, health and wealth. Sean offered to give you access to a live teleseminar series he just completed. You can get the recordings and more. Listen to our interview yesterday to get the scoop. I’m very impressed with what Sean is teaching and it too.
If you weren’t on the virtual book tour I did with Kevin Hall last Tuesday, you can still get the replay. People are signing up for it every day and I’m getting great feedback. So that’s why I keep telling you about it! Special guests included Bob Proctor, Harvey Mackay, Dave Blanchard (head of Og Mandino Foundation), Arielle Ford and a couple other surprises. This was an amazing experience with all these gurus on the phone at the same time.

On “Success Blueprint Radio” yesterday my guest was TV show star and author Sean Stephenson.
Expected to die at birth, Sean Stephenson has faced an army of reasons to give up and countless opportunities to embrace pity. He suffered more than 200 bone fractures by age eighteen, reached a height of only three feet, and is permanently confined to a wheelchair. Despite his challenges, he took a stand for a quality of life that has inspired millions of people around the world, including Tony Robbins, Richard Branson, President Clinton, and his Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
Sean has had more life adventures than most people who are twice his age. He worked on Capitol Hill for a U.S. Congressman and in the White House alongside President Clinton. He has also testified in front of the United States Senate on two separate occasions, traveled the world as a professional speaker in 11 countries and 47 states, is a board-certified psychotherapist, and has just released a new book called, “Get off Your ‘BUT’: How to end self-sabotage and stand up for yourself.”
You might have seen Sean on his Biography Channel Special, “3 Foot Giant” or featured on The Oprah Show, CNN News, CBS News, WGN News, C-SPAN, the Discovery Health Channel, Jimmy Kimmel Live, or in the Washington Post or the The New York Times. With all that said, when you get to know Sean you realize all of his struggles and accomplishments are not what defines him as a man, it’s his love for life and unending pursuit to rid the world of insecurity.

Why You’re Not Finishing and How You Can, Now!
August 19, 2010
It’s sure fun to start something new, isn’t it?
You’re excited to open that new book and start reading.
You’re excited to try the new restaurant.
Maybe you’re even excited to start that new work out program.
But what about business projects?
How excited are you about things like getting your taxes done, setting up that new client intake process, getting that new website done or writing the copy for that new product? Do you keep putting off getting those new videos edited or finishing that book you’ve been writing for the last year?
Do you find that you get off to a fast start, full of passion, with a big vision, and then your excitement slows. Before you know it you’re sitting with a project that’s 95% done and yet it just doesn’t get finished.
Did you think you were the only one that did this?
You’re not, but that doesn’t make it any better. Don’t even try to hide behind that one! It’s still one of the biggest blocks to success you’ll have. You’re great at starting, but not so good, or even really bad, at finishing.
Why is it so hard to just get it done?
For one thing, there’s fear of finishing because once you finish things could change in your life. And most likely they will. The fear is that you don’t know if you’ll experience success or failure. And given your creative mind, you can make both of those options look pretty scary.
Scenario #1
Your life changes in a good way or you even experience a huge financial gain. And yet you’re scared because it’s fear of the unknown. How much money, what will that do to your tax bracket???
Scenario #2
Whatever you’re doing doesn’t play out the way you had hoped and you could be embarrassed, called out, vilified, humiliated or suffer a huge financial loss. Now even if this is taking things a little far, in your mind you go way beyond the real scope of what will likely happen when you are forecasting your fears, don’t you?
So if you are consciously or unconsciously having these disasterous thoughts, are you surprised you start dragging your feet and thinking of more things you have to learn or have to research before you’re ready to finish?
Even if you’re thinking that your project will be such a huge success that your life will change forever and you’ll be rich beyond your dreams, you’re still racked with fear that all your friends will leave you and your family will change and you’ll have to move to Hollywood…who knows where your mind will take you.
And this fear of the unknown, even though it’s all good, will freeze you in inaction. I hear people say all the time that they want to move slow because they’re not sure they are ready for all the changes success will bring. The sad part is that everyone seems to be prepared for the change that failure would bring.
If you hear yourself saying that and your rationalization is that you’re just being realistic, stop that!
Do you really think the Universe would give you this gift and have you create what ever you are not finishing right now, and then put you in a situation that would harm you or make you unhappy as your reward for sharing your gift?
Of course not! So stop thinking up all these ways for this to put you into total overwhelm if you finish and instead look for the help of someone who sees this process as really simple and easy. Let them guide you through the places that are keeping you stuck so that you can finish.
If you do this once, I promise you that the next project you do, it’s not near as likely you’ll freeze up. And if you do, you’ll recognize it quicker and get help so you’ll be in and out of that stuck place in no time flat.
Just do it!

Client Q & A
August 17, 2010
Question: How can I sell my products and services without feeling like a used car salesman? I know I’m good at what I do and I know my book could really help people if they follow what’s inside, but I just feel so uncomfortable pushing it. So my book sales are low and I’m not getting clients from it.
Kathy
Answer: You’re not alone Kathy. Not only do authors struggle with this, but many speakers would rather be fee based speakers that get paid for a key note than sell products in the back of the room because they don’t want to push their products on people.
And believe it or not, there are plenty of professional service people like accountants, attorneys, chiropractors and dentists who face the same issue. They know they can help people but they don’t’ want to push.
I take exactly the opposite stand.
How can you passively stand by and watch someone struggle needlessly or possibly be causing damage to their family or their health and not tell them you have a solution that could make a difference? How can you stand by silently when you’ve been given a gift of whatever your talent is?
I don’t know specifically what your gift is, but if you really believe you have a gift that can help people, you are hurting them by not helping them get access to it. And you can’t expect people to just show up and beg to buy from you. You have to actively market, educate them and repeatedly offer your product or service. It takes, on average, 7-9 exposures to something before a person takes action.
If you need help putting together your personal story, your product benefits and how to present them, grab a copy of Getting to YES Without Selling and it will walk you through the whole process.
Also, in our Success Blueprint Gold VIP Inner Circle you can learn how to market yourself in many ways that get your message out without you feeling like you’re ‘selling’.
